Practical, no-frills satellite finder with solid basics
Satellite Finder by NooRSarI is a lightweight, ad-supported app with a straightforward interface that quickly provides correct dish alignment and signal info (500K+ installs) while collecting location data and offering basic support and privacy details.
Satellite Finder & Satellite Director provides azimuth, elevation, and area calculations for your current location (via GPS) and the selected satellite from the list. Results appear as numeric values and on a graphical overlay in Google Maps.
The app emphasizes precision by offering a landmarks-based approach that reduces reliance on a traditional compass or magnetic azimuth calculations. It helps direct and point a satellite dish quickly and easily.
- Enable GPS and Internet on your device. GPS signals may be unavailable indoors; for more precise results, move toward windows or go outside.
- When the app has determined your location, select the desired satellite by tapping the magnifying-glass icon. The list includes all satellites with an elevation angle above zero degrees; the satellite name is not relevant to the angle calculation—the satellite's position is what matters.
- Azimuth, altitude, and incline are calculated from your position and the chosen satellite. The interface presents these values numerically and includes a compass with a graphical representation of the azimuth angle, which takes magnetic declination into account.
- The resulting guidance helps align the dish for services such as DirecTV and Dish Network, among others.
